What does skin need at night? A guide to evening care

A good evening routine does not need ten steps. Here is a simple ritual you will be glad to repeat every evening.

An evening still life on travertine: linen cloth, a ceramic dish and a gold-framed mirror in warm lamplight.

Evening care is not a contest in the number of products

Social media has created the impression that good skincare demands a full bathroom shelf.

It does not have to.

Far more important than the number of steps are choosing the right products and being consistent.

1. Start with cleansing

Over the course of the day, sebum, make-up, products with sun protection and other impurities gather on the face.

In the evening it makes sense to remove them gently.

After cleansing, skin should not feel noticeably tight. If it regularly does, consider whether your cleanser is too harsh, or whether your skin needs richer care.

2. Add targeted care if you need it

Serums are not compulsory.

If you use one, choose it for what you need, rather than combining several active products simply because they are popular at the moment.

Sometimes the simpler routine is also the routine we will keep up the longest.

3. Finish with a cream

The cream is the closing step of an evening routine.

For dry, dehydrated or mature skin, a slightly richer texture is often the pleasant choice: it softens skin and eases the uncomfortable feeling of tightness.

OSLEA was designed as exactly that step. You can use it on the face, the neck and the décolleté.

Do not forget the neck and décolleté

Care often stops at the jawline.

When you apply the cream, you can gently spread it over the neck and décolleté too. You do not necessarily need a separate product for every centimetre of skin.

How much cream is enough?

More product does not necessarily mean better care.

For OSLEA, around 1 to 2 pumps of the airless bottle is usually enough, and you can adjust the amount to what your skin needs.

A ritual you can keep

Cleanse. A serum, if you like. Cream.

Three simple things can be quite enough.

Evening care can also be something else: a few minutes when the day settles and you do something for yourself.

Perhaps that is why the idea of a beauty ritual has survived for centuries.
